Skincare at times could be an exhilarating journey---especially so during your 20s, when you are attempting to set up a life. I am not always a dermatologist-Gosh, I've made all the classic skincare mistakes. So, for those in their 20s who want to produce a stronger skincare regimen, take note of the things I forbade myself from doing.
The five biggest incompatibilities I'd had with skincare, plus a huge myth once followed:
I mostly used to skip removing makeup-well, kajal systems are different. I went for a wash-basically assuming that was okay. Kajal, being long-lasting in nature, usually has oil-base components that don't wash off easily with water, leaving behind residues.
The residues cause irritation, redness, and styes-to name a few.
Inflammation also leads to premature aging.
Use cold-pressed coconut oil or sweet almond oil on a cotton swab to gently wipe off all eye makeup since these are both natural, gentle, and moisturizing.
2. Using foaming face wash with dry skin
I used to think that the more foam it had, the cleaner my skin. That was a big mistake. Foaming cleansers usually contain sulfates that strip away the natural oils. This aggravates dryness.
Use a homemade cleanser of raw honey with a few drops of milk or rose water. It offers cleansing without drying moisture and suits dry skin.
3. Not Moisturizing right after Washing My Face
I once used to feel moisturizing at night once was enough. But applying moisturizer over damp skin keeps hydration trapped better.
Skin loses water fast once washed.
Delaying moisturizer means losing a bit of its power.
Apply some aloe vera gel or shea butter right after washing your face while it is still slightly damp. They help seal moisture and soothe dryness naturally.
4. Using Expensive Creams by the Pinch
Back in the days, I used to buy expensive creams and use them very sparingly, with mere dots of creams spread once a week. I thought it would make them last, with little use, yet still be effective. They were not.
• If applied from time to time, results will not show.
• Inconsistent use makes no sense.
• Aloe vera gel and a few drops of jojoba or argan oil.
• Whipped shea butter infused with lavender oil.
Using natural well-priced products on a regular basis is much better than infrequent usage of expensive ones.
5. Not Reapplying Inner Block Hours
In my pre-dermatology days, I would have thought a single application of sunscreen in the morning was enough. No it's not
UV protection fades away after 2–3 hours.
No reapplications mean no real protection from the sun.
Use a natural mineral sunscreen made of zinc oxide and non-nano titanium dioxide. Reapply every 2–3 hours. Otherwise, if there is a window at your workplace, you are going to get sun exposure there!
The fairness creams
Yes-I really thought those things could lighten my skin permanently. According to what I now know, no cream can do that safely and permanently. Most fairness products will dry your skin out. They offer a very narrow beauty stereotype. You need healthy, glowing skin-not lighter skin.
What actually helps:
Hydration And Sun protection
A wholesome skin routine with natural, beneficial materials
Your twenties may be wild learning years, but your skin need not suffer any damage.
Avoid these silly things I did:
• Always remove makeup.
• Use the right products for your skin.
• Moisturize right after cleansing.
• Use plenty of skincare products.
Forget fairness creams!
